Featured Issue: VITAE Academia Biomédica Digital No.54

ARCO DE CARABOBO The 54th issue of VITAE Academia Biomédica Digital was updated last month on Bioline. In this issue two studies were conducted in Carabobo, Venezuela. Here are some highlights from these studies:

The first is "Subcutaneous Abscesses a Public Health problem in a rural population in Estado Carabobo, Venezuela" by Lopez & Lizardo. This article discusses Subcutaneous abscesses, which occur when fluid is trapped between the skin and deep tissues. Subcutaneous abscesses have increased in patients with skin infections in Carabobo, Venezuela, specifically Montalban. The study found that the lesions occurred more frequently in women.

This issue also includes "Socio-demographic Characteristics of medical students of two public Universities in Spain and Venezuela. 2009-2010" by Cardozo de A. et al., which studies second-year medical students at University of Carabobo as well as the Autonomous University in Madrid, Spain. The results showed that most of the medical students studied were females. Other socio-demographic results were also gathered, such as religion, age, and family.
